The Dude Ranch - Part 1

We spent a supremely enjoyable six days at Mancos Lake Guest Ranch in Mancos, Colorado, near Durango. A full-service dude ranch, all the munchkins but Marguerite were eligible for the kids' program. The kids, with others their age, took part in a variety of activities from riding horses to swimming to cattle penning to fishing to barrel racing.  And Joe and I were able to speak to one another uninterrupted on some incredible horseback rides into the mountains. This was a trip to remember.

Kathleen poses as she wait to be assigned to her horse for the week.

William and Andrew also await their horse assignments.

William gets Lefty, saddled up by wrangler Morgan.

After getting our horse assignments, we had a little time to explore the surrounding area.
We walked down to the nearby dammed lake and got our feet wet.

Therese "sun bathes" on the boat launch.

The boys enjoy the high mountain lake before we head back to the ranch for dinner.

Our first night at the ranch involved dinner around the campfire.
William is loving the s'mores.

Oh wow! That looks like so much fun. Our family might end up in Colorado at one point or another so I'll have to remember this place to take my kiddos when they are old enough.
