NOT Doing It All

There are those who ask "how I do it all" with seven kids and homeschooling and the various projects I place upon myself. The truth of the matter is that I don't. I come up far short in so many areas. I should devote more time to my husband, I should devote more time to prayer, I should come up with more time to simply play with the kids... and in  a not-so-important area, I could devote more time to blogging—since this blog is my version of our family scrapbook.  I print the blog in book form at the end of each year, and I put a wee bit o' pressure on myself to keep it up. Since one of my last posts had do with Christmas, I've fallen far short.

So... In traditional Elizabeth-fashion, I will now spend this weekend catching up on January through April posts. (I did spend my entire Saturday until now cleaning our basement top to bottom.) One of these days, I'll be regular about my family blogging. In my dreams.

Meanwhile, I"m on a mission to cut a few non-essentials out of our crazy-run-around-schedule...

Record Hiatus?

Well, I might be breaking all personal blogging records with this recent hiatus from Munchkins. Beginning with my mother-in-law's passing at Thanksgiving, followed by the holidays, followed by five weeks of major illness running through the family, followed by some exciting news (stay tuned!), I've been sorely negligent of the ol' family blog.

Now that we are recovered from our ailments and things are looking brighter (albeit amidst insanity at the Wisconsin State Capitol currently), I will attempt to update this little blog. Bear with me, as we travel back in time a little bit and make things current around here.

Mary's Anawim

I am pleased to announce that one of my favorite priests, Fr. Rick Heilman, right here in the Diocese of Madison, has begun to blog. His new blog, Mary's Anawim promises to be a great place to find authentic Catholic teaching and a bolstering of those Catholic clergy who take sometimes-unpopular positions in their fidelity to Christ's Church. Do check out Fr. Rick's blog!

Why Blog, You Ask?

Why have I recently jumped into the blogging fray, you ask?

The answer is in the Leone Homefront newsletters (or lack thereof) that were lovingly compiled for grandparents in September 2003, December 2003 - Part I and Part II, and Summer 2004. And there they stopped. Let's just say I got a little caught up in having babies, building a house, and doing this thing called homeschooling.

This blog is my new attempt at a Leone family newsletter of sorts. It is intended for the much-loved grandparents, all of whom live out of state and would presumably like to see how the Leone Munchkins are doing. It is intended for our little nuclear family as well, as a journal of sorts, chronicling our days during this homeschooling period of our life. And perhaps, just perhaps, it will bring a smile to the face of a random passer-by.

So, full steam ahead, I am forging into the blogging world. I ask the patron saints of blogging, multimedia, and procrastination --whomever you may be -- to come to my aid.
